How are silicones used in Chemical Fomulation applications?

Silicones are used within the chemical industry as processing aids. The most common requirement is for an antifoaming agent.

Whenever liquids are moved, pumped or agitated there is a risk of foam being developed. Large amounts of foam will often slow down the production process, inhibit chemical reactions and impair product performance.

Silicone Fluids & Emulsions

Silicone is used to provide both improved feel and water repellence in fabrics. Within the car care aftermarket and household product manufacture silicone is added to dressings and polishes to extend product life and increase shine and gloss. The cosmetic industry utilises these unique properties in the manufacture of hair-care shampoos, conditioners, lipsticks and other forms of makeup.
