Aminosiloxane oils, or aminosilicones, are one of the most widely used silioxane polymers in industrial and cosmetic formulations (personal care uses the INCI name ‘amodimethicone’) owing to a near infinite level of polymer customization. The dissimilar nature of the surface-binding amine groups on a flexible, slippery siloxane backbone allows the fluid’s end properties to be tailored to an individualized performance need.
One drawback with aminosilicones, however, is the inherent tenacious, tacky, adherent nature of the pure oil. Due to this fact, and most industries’ push away from solvents, CHT’s more user-friendly product line – ultrastable, water-continuous aminosilicone emulsions – have been hugely popular with our customers. These emulsions can be near-infinitely customized for stick and slip, and have been tailored to impart the following properties for our end users:
CHT’s aminosiloxane emulsions are easy to formulate with and are particularly effective in acidic pH conditions for water-based systems. The combination of slip-imparting silicone and surface binding amino groups allows the polymer to optimally orient to nearly all surfaces for good coating and durability.
