Silanes are an incredibly useful collection of silicon-containing chemistries that are commonly used to effectively derivatize, synthesize, promote adhesion, improve mechanical properties, combatibilize, surface treat and in general customize chemical functionality for a variety of organic, inorganic and siloxane materials.
